This is True

Shhhhhhhh II

California’s governor Pete Wilson underwent surgery on his vocal cords about six weeks ago and has been prohibited by his doctors from speaking until they heal. It’s cruel enough to keep a politician from talking, but Wilson is further inconvenienced since he is trying to run for president. But it’s not getting Wilson down: he uses a legal pad to jot down notes to his aides, and has made several observations on the benefits of not speaking. “It’s easier to express in one gesture to reporters what it used to take two or more words to convey,” one note said. (Los Angeles Times) ...We need more politicians who understand that it’s sometimes better to keep your mouth shut.
