Researchers at Northwestern University report that “urinary stress incontinence”, which causes 11 million women to leak urine when laughing, exercising, or performing other day-to-day tasks, can be reduced or eliminated with “electric stimulation” therapy. The theory is that with two or three months of daily treatment with electrical impulses, contractions caused by the current will strengthen pelvic muscles, leading to increased urinary control.
