Shop ’til You Drop

Barbara Morris was putting her groceries in her van in Louisville, Ky., when a man flashed a gun and ordered her to drive. “I said, Just take my car,’ but it didn’t work that way,” she said. He forced her to go on a nine-hour shopping spree, buying $6,000 worth of laptop computers, fast food, VCRs, and cigarettes, all while covering her with his gun. If that wasn’t weird enough, he also had her stop to make photocopies of the receipts so she could keep track of what was paid for with her checks and credit cards. “He was keeping the originals and giving me the copies,” Morris said. “I just went along with whatever he said to do.” A store manager finally got suspicious and called the police, who arrived in time to see her pushing a shopping cart full of cigarettes toward her van. The alleged gunman, Frederick Harris, 41, was changed with theft, kidnaping, robbery and gun violations. (AP) ...Felony, or dream date? You be the judge.
