Signs of a Problem

“Raymond Ward Tells Lies” read one sign put up by Alan Kingston in his Kempston, England, neighborhood. “Ward the Fraud” said another. Kingston’s car bore a sign that noted “We have no connection with the liar, con man, bankrupt who lives at 57.” Ray Ward, who has lived in the same house for 28 years, wasn’t sure what else to do about Kingston, his next door neighbor for just four years, so he sued him. Kingston was ordered to pay Ward 1,000 pounds in libel damages — plus about 20,000 pounds for Ward’s legal costs. Kingston says he may have to sell his house to pay the award. (AP) ...Well, then, the problem looks well solved.
