Some Like it Hotter

Long-retired British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is still fondly remembered by her fellow politicians. Perhaps too fondly, reports the University of the West of England in Bristol. Dr. Kathy Sykes and her colleagues hooked up Members of Parliament to monitors and then showed them photos of various people, including a “scantily clad” female TV personality, two women kissing, a “semi-naked” man, and an apparently fully clothed shot of “Iron Lady” Thatcher. The photo of the former Prime Minister brought the highest response, eliciting “arousal” in 80 percent of the MPs tested. “Members of the public usually react to images of scantily clad men and women,” Sykes said, “whereas MPs reacted strongly to Maggie Thatcher [even though] not a single MP said they were sexually aroused by Mrs. Thatcher.” (Reuters) ...As if we needed still more proof that politicians aren’t much like real people.
