This week 450 delegates from around the world gathered in Hong Kong for a conference on public toilets. It included a photographic exhibition of toilets from around the world by Ronald Leung Ding-bong, chairman of Hong Kong’s Urban Council, who is more popularly known as “Dr. Toilet”. But is an international conference necessary? “What goes up must come down. What goes in must come out,” Chung Wah-nan, president of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, told delegates. “It is what we do after it has come down or out that... deserves worldwide attention.” (Reuters) ...There’s a question to ponder: he’d rather be known as “Dr. Toilet” than “Dr. Ding-bong”?
