Progress isn’t always welcome. As the campaign to replace the paper dollar bill with a coin gains momentum in the U.S., one’s thoughts invariably turn to those adversely affected. Like strippers. The long-honored tradition of slipping a buck in a G-string may finally be over. “All that weight! We wouldn’t be able to carry it if we got, like, 20 singles in coins,” said one dancer, considering the horror. “When you tip the girl a dollar, there is a brief bond there, or an imagined bond between the girl and the guy. To just drop a dollar coin into a cup, it’s just not the same,” lamented one industry observer. (Washington Post) ...Time to bring the $2 bill back into general circulation — surely the dancers need a raise by now.
