This is True

Takes One to Know One

A mistrial has been declared in a Washington state murder case. Christopher Turgeon, who says he is the reincarnation of the Prophet Elijah, disagreed with his lawyer’s defense tactic — attorney Royce Ferguson says his client is “nuts.” Turgeon, who returned the favor by calling his attorney “an agent of Satan,” told jurors that he has inside information that the world will end on March 22, 2004, though that apparently didn’t have anything to do with his shooting a former member of his cult to death with a 9mm handgun. The jury deadlocked 11–1 for conviction. “I think the guy really is nuts,” Ferguson says, but on the other hand, “I’m thinking, what if he is Elijah?” (AP) ...Then he wouldn’t have needed a 9mm handgun.
