This is True

Tea Time

“In the grand scheme of things, this hasn’t had a lot of her attention,” says Mother Teresa’s lawyer. However, the nun has personally asked the Bongo Java coffee shop in Nashville, Tenn., to stop promoting the “Nun Bun” — a cinnamon roll that many say looks like her [see p. 84, ID #5282]. Bongo Java owner Bob Bernstein said the customer who had been served the roll noticed the resemblance, and Bernstein had it shellacked to preserve it. The cafe has been selling T-shirts, mugs, and other merchandise emblazoned with a photograph of the roll. The elderly nun has written to Bernstein asking him to cease and desist; he’s consulting with his attorney before deciding what to do. “We’re not reproducing a likeness of Mother Teresa,” Bernstein’s lawyer said. “We’re reproducing a likeness of this bun, which was baked just by happenstance.” (AP) ...Fun bun stuns nun; shunned patron runs to hired gun.
