A student at California State University in Fullerton decided to leave the track team after her coach gave her an ultimatum: quit the team or quit being an exotic dancer. Leilani Rios said stripping pays her bills so she can go to college in the first place, where she is studying kinesiology. Coach John Elders said letting her work as an exotic dancer after school “would detract from the image and accomplishments of her teammates, the athletic department and the university.” How did Elders find out about her profession? Students from the baseball team went to the theater where she performs and saw her, and they told him. She says the baseball players were wearing school caps and sweaters, while she does not use any school clothing in her act.
