Minnesota’s Gov. Jesse Ventura, upset at his treatment at the keyboards of news reporters, has issued press passes declaring the bearer an “Official Jackal” of the press, a common Venturian epithet. But the governor changed his mind about issuing the cards after “hundreds” of reporters from around the country asked for one. Ventura now claims the pass was a “practical joke” and the big demand “typical of the media not paying attention to what’s important to the public but what’s important to them.” (Reuters) ...Is that more or less attention the governor gives to important issues as he takes time from his official duties to call football games and wrestling matches?
