The Other White Meat

Researchers from Ohio State University fed 250 experimental pigs junk food to see what effect it would have on their development as livestock. Barbeque and sour cream-flavored potato chips, which are about 33 percent fat, were given to the pigs instead of standard feed. The chips were so salty and fatty that the pigs actually ate less, delaying their optimal growth by two weeks. But after the pigs were cooked, their meat was declared better tasting than usual, and with no hint of chip flavor in the meat. (AP) ...So, after a plane crash in the Andes or a winter crossing of the Sierra Nevada, seek out the junk-food-eating travelers first.
