To Remove from Service

When Eric Coley got in a dispute with his employer, they fired him. Coley, the doorman at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Va., says the hotel demanded everything that it owned, including his uniform. “They wanted everything, so I gave them everything — timecard, keys, pants,” he said. Then, “I felt I just had to get out of there. If I had to leave butterball naked I would have.” Coley then walked out the door in his underwear and down Main Street to his car. (AP) ...Dignity: walking out with his head held high. Indignity: having to open the front door himself.
