Toronto’s Bata Shoe Museum has proudly put its newest acquisition on display: a pair of Napoleon Bonaparte’s socks. Museum director Edward Maeder says the interesting thing is who owned the socks, not the socks themselves. “They’re essentially very boring,” he said. However, “any clothing that actually touches the body — underwear, socks — is terribly personal,” he said. “There is some kind of magic to objects touched by famous people.” (AP) ...They probably don’t have any of Madonna’s underwear, then — it never actually touches her body.
