Up the Charts with a Bullet

A New York City, N.Y., record company has issued a CD with all 50 state songs, performed by 50 different punk bands. The company sent copies to all 50 state governors and the White House. Vice President Gore “didn’t respond, so I’m thinking maybe Tipper got hold of it,” says producer Jack Ball. But Delaware Gov. Thomas Carper listened to his state’s song. He pronounced it “too edgy.” However, he said in a thank-you note to the company, he “wouldn’t rule out its use during the inauguration of a new governor — if we ever get around to electing someone with green hair and multiple piercings in curious places.” (AP) ...Which could happen sooner than he thinks.
