Peoria, Ill., police think Christina Mack, 35, intended to kill her one-legged boyfriend after they had an argument over her 6-week pregnancy. Mack allegedly used household oil to grease up the floor at the top of the stairs so that her boyfriend, Chester Parkman, 50, would slip and fall. The scheme came to light when firefighters were called to the house to render first aid after Mack slipped on the oil and fell, knocking her unconscious. Parkman first told police Mack had tried to kill him, but later told a local newspaper, “I honestly think she was trying to wax the floor.” Police charged her with domestic battery, rather than attempted murder.
