The State of Washington wants to put warning labels on newlyweds. Not literally, but the state Senate passed a bill requiring that marriage licenses carry the disclaimer that “The laws of this state affirm your right to enter into marriage and at the same time to live within the marriage free from violence and abuse.” To become law, the bill must also pass the state House of Representatives, but it has no sponsor there.
