We’re Not Amused, We’re Sort-of British

Hong Kong’s High Court Justice Jim Findlay has denounced a ruling by the Obscene Articles Tribunal that a photograph of Michelangelo’s masterpiece marble statue David was obscene. The ruling stated that the photo of the “wholly naked male person with his penis fully exposed was out of order,” and that the newspaper which published it should be fined $25,641 and the editor should spend a year in jail. Judge Findlay noted the decision was “out of order”, “totally incomprehensible”, and would make Hong Kong the “laughing stock of the world.” (UPI) ...The members of the Tribunal should be fined $25,641 and sentenced to a year in jail.
