Who Wants to Be a Sidekick?

After a 15-year run, Kathie Lee Gifford has announced she is quitting the Live with Regis & Kathie Lee show when her contract is up this summer. Co-host Regis Philbin, who also hosts the game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, has stood beside Gifford through her various scandals, inane talk about her son, and her husband’s public affair. “It’s the right time,” she says, adding she wants to “spread my creative wings” and do more singing. Philbin’s contract for the fourth-rated daytime talk show extends a year beyond Gifford’s, and he says he will continue the show without her.
