Hard-drinking “gonzo” journalist Hunter S. Thompson was apparently trying to shoo a bear off his property in Aspen, Colo., by firing a shotgun at it. He missed. He did, however, manage to hit his assistant, Debra Fuller, though she was only slightly injured. “We've had bears all over the place in Aspen, Woody Creek and Snowmass this year,” said Colorado Division of Wildlife spokesman Pat Tucker. “It's a zoo up there.” (AP) ...Maybe that explains Thompson's reports of rampaging pink elephants.
