The Pennsylvania couple’s fight for the ring not only went into the courts, the case made it all the way to the state’s Supreme Court. The seven-judge panel ruled that since Pennsylvania is a “no-fault divorce” state, “similar principles” should be applied to broken engagements. Surman was ordered to return the ring to Lindh.
