With This Ring

When Rodger Lindh broke up with his fiancée, Janis Surman, he asked for his $21,000 engagement ring back. Surman refused. The Pennsylvania couple’s fight for the ring not only went into the courts, the case made it all the way to the state’s Supreme Court. The seven-judge panel ruled that since Pennsylvania is a “no-fault divorce” state, “similar principles” should be applied to broken engagements. Surman was ordered to return the ring to Lindh. The court battle took six years. (AP) ...Which is probably longer than the marriage would have lasted.
