Police in a small town in Jiangsu, China, made an investment, and it paid off. Using 6,000 yuan (US$725) as seed money, they opened their own brothel. Officers would then burst in, arrest the customers, and take them to the station to be fined on the spot. The scheme brought 80,000 yuan in just three months, but it came apart when another police agency arrested the property’s owner, who then turned evidence against the officers. Deputy police chief Gao Mingliang pleaded guilty to abuse of authority and was sentenced to a year in prison. (Reuters) ...The First Law of Corruption: everybody has to be in on the game.
