This is True
bullet  Yahoo: No Longer Supported

There have been recurring problems with deliveries of issues to Yahoo customers. In an exasperating twist, sometimes the issues subscribers you paid for (Premium) didn't arrive, and the free editions did. Go figure.

And in many cases, I can't even tell it's happening. They would often accept the issues, but then dump them without telling you -- or us. The mail isn't put into the "spam folder" so you can recover it, let alone mark it "Not Spam!" so that their filters can learn the difference between mail you want, and mail you don't.

Therefore, Yahoo addresses will no longer be supported. I've spent countless hours tracking down problems, and even working with a Yahoo executive who promised help, but then went silent when his efforts proved unsuccessful. (He was even a Premium subscriber himself!)

In my opinion, Yahoo just doesn't care about killing off legitimate mail in its overzealous and poorly crafted attempts to stop spam. I mean, you have noticed garbage still gets through to your inbox even when True doesn't, right?! I sure do see it in the test Yahoo mailbox I maintain.

If you need an alternative, Google's Gmail webmail service, which has proven itself to be robust and intelligent in its spam filtering, is the best option I know. I'm only aware of it "losing" one week of Premium, and that was after a server change on our end that made it "look" different. Still, subscribers could find the missing issue if they checked their "spam" folder. Enough did that, and clicked the "Not Spam" button, that by the next week, all was well again.

What Does 'Not Supported' Mean?

  • For Premium Readers: When Premium subscribers miss issues, I'm happy to send them copies -- but no longer if you're on Yahoo! Move to gmail (or somewhere else) first, and then I'll catch you up on what you missed. I've been beyond patient with this problem, but it has gotten too bad to continue this more-than-you-paid-for support so you can continue to use a third-rate mail service.
  • For Free Edition Readers: You're probably already not getting your mail -- about 70 percent have already been shut down due to Yahoo blocks. You need to subscribe again with a different, non-Yahoo address. We will soon be blocking Yahoo addresses from subscribing.

Someone working at Yahoo was a Premium subscriber for awhile, and he worked to get us "whitelisted" (allowed by their spam filters). There have been occasional problems since then, but it has been significantly better thanks to his kind help.

If nothing else, this goes to show that the "spam wars" are just that: wars. There are "collateral victims" in the skirmishes. In this case, it's you and me: you, because you're not getting the mail you want (and I'll bet you still get plenty of spam!), and me, having to deal with this not just once, but once (at least!) for every subscriber affected. What a waste, all thanks to slimy spammers who truly don't care about the havoc they create.

Quick Fix: Missed a free edition issue? The two most-recent ones are always on this site: This week's and Last week's. For a longer fix, re-subscribe using the form above using a non-Yahoo address.
