After Timothy Rowles, 29, pleaded guilty to one count of importing child pornography, he made two formal motions to the U.S. District Court in Columbus, Ohio, to ask that the confiscated pictures of naked children be returned to him. “What one person calls pornographic ... another may have no problem with,” Rowles argued to the court. Pornography laws “talk about community standards. I’m part of the community, and if what I have doesn’t bother me, why should it matter?” Judge George C. Smith was astounded at Rowles’ lack of remorse and added 10 months to his sentence, for a total of two years, plus a fine and community service.
