The London borough of Islington plans a new awareness campaign for people who don’t clean up after their dogs. Islington wants to reduce the 32,000 pounds (US$49,500) it spends each year cleaning up after uncurbed pooches. “We’ve tried the soft approach, but there are some people it clearly isn’t getting through to,” a borough spokesman said. Their new approach is anything but soft. An advertisement to be shown in movie houses shows a man who comes out of his house, drops his drawers, and defecates on the pavement. As a neighbor walks by and slips in the mess, a message intones, “You wouldn’t. Don’t let your dog.” (Reuters) ...The spokesman denies the widespread rumor that the man is an MP demonstrating his disdain for area voters.
