Zap That Idea

“Old Sparky”, the recently retired electric chair used by the State of Florida to put 238 inmates to death, will not be made available to museums for display, the Florida Department of Corrections has ruled after receiving requests from two museums. The chair, built by inmates in 1923, was taken out of service after flames shot out of the heads of two condemned men during their executions. DeVoe Moore, owner of the Tallahassee Antique Car Museum, wants to display the death chair. “If some of these kids could see the chair, or sit in it, look at it, their thoughts might change if they thought about putting on a trench coat, putting a gun under it and going out,” he said. “It needs to be out there in a very tasteful manner.” (Reuters) ...As if that were possible.
